Orange: unfavourable ruling from Paris court of appeal.

(CercleFinance.com) - There's some bad news for Orange - its appeal in a dispute with its rival Free has been rejected by the Court of Appeal of Paris.

The Court of Appeal dismissed an appeal lodged by the incumbent operator and thus confirmed a decision by the ARCEP (telecommunications regulatory authority), the sector's policeman in France.

Free, a subsidiary of Iliad, accused Orange of overcharging for the use of its hosting and mobile data collection services when they went through fiber optic networks deployed by Free.

In response to this dispute, the Court of Appeal considered that ARCEP's decision makes it possible to streamline, in the general interest of wired networks deployed by operators and contributes to the completion of the investment objective effective in next-generation networks.
