Renault: soon to find a successor to Carlos Ghosn?

(CercleFinance.com) - According to several media, including Le Monde and Le Figaro, a board meeting could be held at Renault on Sunday to decide on the establishment of new governance, while the request for bail of Carlos Ghosn was refused on Tuesday and that he - who is still officially in charge of the group - should in all likelihood, remain in prison until his trial.

This, according to Le Figaro, several representatives of the French government (including Martin Vial, Director General of the State Investment Agency (Agence des participations de l'État), and Emmanuel Moulin, Principal Private Secretary to the Minister of the Economy, Bruno Le Maire), will be visiting Tokyo today to hold talks with Renault-Nissan stakeholders. There is one aim: to stabilise the Renault-Nissan Alliance and prepare for the appointment of a new chairman.

A two-headed governance could be implemented to manage the company post-Ghosn. Thierry Bolloré therefore appears to be in pole position for the post of CEO, while the post of non-executive chairman seems that it will be filled by Jean-Dominique Senard, chairman of Michelin, which he will leave in the spring. It would then be up to the latter to terminate Carlos Ghosn's mandate: this was set to last until 2022.
