Société Générale: to study a revamp of French retail banking

(CercleFinance.com) - Société Générale announces that its general management is launching a study on the creation of a new retail bank in France, through mergering both its retail banking networks, Crédit du Nord and Société Générale.

This would bring together the two businesses, which have a total of nearly nine million individual customers and one million professional and corporate customers, with both networks being highly complementary in terms of expertise and geographical presence.

The study will be conducted by the end of November under the direction of Sébastien Proto, deputy CEO in charge of retail banking networks in France, with the managers and teams of both networks, by combining the private banking and insurance teams.
