Vivendi: Canal+ negotiates agreement with Netflix
(CercleFinance.com) - According to Le Figaro, Canal+, Vivendi's pay-TV subsidiary, and the US video-on-demand giant Netflix are finalising a distribution agreement that could be signed "in the coming weeks".
Netflix should be available as an additional option, although it cannot be ruled out that Canal+ offers multiple formulas that are financially more advantageous for consumers, the paper says in its economic section.
The American group has already signed agreements with Bouygues Telecom, Orange, SFR, and more recently Free, telephone operators whose boxes include television access.
Available in France since September 2014, Netflix has currently has over five million subscribers.
