Thales: deal to enhance streaming service
(CercleFinance.com) - Thales and Netskrt Systems, a provider of content delivery networks, have announced their collaboration to offer passengers full access to in-flight video streaming services.
When hosted on Thales' In-Flight Entertainment and Connectivity (IFEC) system, Netskrt's Edge Content Delivery Network (eCDN) will deliver content directly to consumers on seat screens and personal devices. On-demand content is stored on-board and regularly updated.
Passengers will be able to instantly stream their favourite entertainment content using their personal video streaming subscriptions.
The solution will optimise satellite connectivity consumption by ensuring that bandwidth is available for other connected in-flight services.
