Thales: records for in-flight connectivity with SES
(CercleFinance.com) - SES and Thales announce that they have reached record speed and enhanced coverage for in-flight connectivity through an integrated GEO/MEO system.
Both groups announce uninterrupted in-flight access to broadband broadband applications via a platform supporting multi-orbit interoperability.
A test flight was successfully completed between Melbourne, Florida and the Atlantic coast of Nicaragua.
"Engineers aboard the test flight were able to simultaneously use a broad range of bandwidth-hungry services demonstrating rates in excess of 265 Mbps (4K video streaming, super-fast social media networking, e-commerce transactions, audio conferencing, interactive gaming and web browsing on-board the Gulfstream G-III aircraft..." Thales said.
