Thales: R&D Agreement with CAAS
(CercleFinance.com) - The Singapore Civil Aviation Authority (CAAS) and Thales have signed a research and development agreement to invent the open ATM architecture of the future.
This agreement follows the signature, in February 2018, of a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation between both these organisations with the aim of developing new concepts for air traffic management and next-generation ATM technologies.
As part of this new agreement, CAAS and Thales will work together over the next 20 months to design and develop an open ATM system architecture.
Air traffic is set to become increasingly complex in the region, which will result in unprecedented pressure on Air Navigation Service Providers (ANSPs). This type of architecture will be a central element of the future ATM system in Singapore. It will enable Singapore to respond much more quickly to the the many changes in the aeronautical landscape, said Kevin Shum, CEO of CAAS.
