Thales: Cygnus cargo craft heading to the ISS

(CercleFinance.com) - The latest Cygnus spacecraft has been successfully launched for a tenth operational mission to the International Space Station (ISS) aboard an Antares rocket from NASA's launch base in Wallops, Virginia.

There are two parts to the Cygnus vessel: the Northrop Grumman service module (initially Orbital ATK) and the pressurised cargo module (PCM), developed and built by Thales Alenia Space, a joint venture between Thales (67%) and Leonardo (33%).

Thales Alenia Space has been supplying Cygnus pressurised cargo ships to Northrop Grumman since the program's inception, having signed a first contract in 2009 for the delivery of nine models, along with a second contract in 2016 for the production of 9 additional models.
