Thales: to modernise Norway's air navigation systems.
(CercleFinance.com) - The Norwegian Defence has awarded a contract to Thales for 14 Tactical Air Navigation Aids (TACAN), upgrading existing systems.
Primarily for military use, the TCAN provides information to ease navigation, particularly in harsh weather conditions.
Consisting of a dual TACAN ground beacon with antenna, remote control and monitoring systems, it will be installed nationwide, covering the entire Norwegian airspace. Training, documentation and spare parts will also be included. The system is already used by 14 other NATO countries.
Thales TACANs are the most advanced on the market, are very reliable and are suitable for difficult locations. The system's dual configuration also supports civil air navigation.
