Sanofi: agreement with Roche on Tamiflu
(CercleFinance.com) - Sanofi has announced reaching an agreement with Roche to obtain the exclusive rights of Tamiflu, for the prevention and treatment of influenza, on the US market for self-medication, with the product a prescription drug in the US, up until now.
Sanofi will lead the negotiations with the FDA for the authorisation of Tamiflu's switch to an OTC drug, as well as its exclusive marketing and distribution activities in US consumer health and related scientific activities.
According to the Centers for Disease Control, over 31 million people get the flu each year in the US, but in 2017 only about seven million were treated with an effective product like Tamiflu.
