Sanofi: acquires Protein Sciences in the US.
(CercleFinance.com) - Sanofi has announced the forthcoming acquisition of Protein Sciences, a private biotechnology company found in Meriden, in the State of Connecticut.
This company holds Flublok, the only protein recombinant influenza vaccine that is approved by the FDA.
Under the agreement reached by the two companies, Sanofi will make an initial payment of 650 million dollars and thereafter will be able to pay up to 100 million dollars, based on the achievement of certain objectives.
The acquisition, which has been unanimously approved by Protein Sciences' board of directors and by a majority of its shareholders, is scheduled to be effective in the third quarter of 2017, subject to the necessary regulatory approvals.
