Total: pilot scheme in acquisition of seismic data
(CercleFinance.com) - ADNOC (Abu Dhabi National Oil Company) and Total announce their collaboration to deploy the world's first automated seismic data acquisition system in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, through a pilot scheme.
This project is based on Total's Multi-System Exploration Technology Integrated (METIS) system, and consists of using drones and an unmanned vehicle to deposit and recover seismic sensors without human intervention, and therefore at a lower cost.
"Total is focusing on innovation in seismic acquisition to minimize surface impact of petroleum activities and improve the quality of sub-surface images, while increasing our overall operational efficiency," said Dominique Janodet, head of R&D of Total's Exploration & Production division.
