Total: drilling refusal confirmed in Brazil
(CercleFinance.com) - The Ibama, the Brazil environmental agency, has announced that had confirmed on appeal its rejection of the appeal brought by Total against the decision that refused to allow it to in the five “blocs” of the basin of Foz do Amazonas, approximately 120 km offshore of the company.
The request for a license had initially been refused on 7 December because of “technical problems” and, also according to the Ibama, the inability of Total to provide proof of the “technical and operational security” of these possible drilling sites.
