Total: strategic agreement with Clean Energy
(CercleFinance.com) - Total and Clean Energy Fuels Corp announce a strategic agreement aiming to promote the use of natural gas (CNG or LNG) by heavy-goods vehicles in the USA, notably with the entry of the French energy group to the capital of Clean Energy.
Total will acquire 50.8 million shares for 83.4 million dollars, to become Clean Energy's main shareholder with 25% of shares. This transaction will be subject to the approval of Clean Energy's AGM of 8 June.
Clean Energy plans to launch a leasing programme in the third quarter to put thousands of new natural-gas HGVs on the road. Total intends to provide support for the programme by offering guarantees of up to 100 million dollars.
