Air Liquide: in negotiations with Safran for divestment
(CercleFinance.com) - Air Liquide announced on Thursday that it had entered into exclusive negotiations with Safran with a view to selling its oxygen and nitrogen aeronautical activities.
The industrial gas maker says that this decision is part of its strategy of regularly reviewing its portfolio, which consists of focusing on its "key" businesses and markets.
Its oxygen and nitrogen aeronautical technology activities focus on the aeronautical sector, in the field of on-board gases and associated equipment.
The unit, which employs 218 people, produces portable oxygen breathing equipment, on-board oxygen and nitrogen concentration, storage and distribution solutions, ground support solutions and optronics.
Safran explains that the transaction will strengthen the oxygen systems business of its subsidiary Safran Aerosystems, which designs equipment to ensure the safety of crews and passengers on board civil and military aircraft, as well as helicopters.
This branch currently employs nearly 500 people in the United States and France.
According to the companies, the deal should be completed early next year.
