Safran: to equip 100%-electric aircraft
(CercleFinance.com) - Safran Electrical & Power and Bye Aerospace have announced their signature of a cooperation agreement to equip the eFlyer 2 and eFlyer 4 with ENGINeUS smart electric motors.
Bye Aerospace intends to certify with the FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) the eFlyer 2 and the eFlyer 4, which are 100%-electric aircraft intended for professional pilot training and air taxi missions.
Bye Aerospace believes that the eFlyer will avoid the emission of several million tonnes of CO2 each year, just for pilot training alone.
The company said that its eFlyer order book, which currently stands at 711 units, is growing steadily. It needs to progress quickly to meet the demand from aviation enthusiasts worldwide who have been waiting for years for 100%-electric aircraft to be marketed.
