Air France: set to make 8 to 10 thousand redundancies

(CercleFinance.com) - Air France is expected to present a redundancy plan affecting 8,000 to 10,000 jobs by the end of June or at the latest by the beginning of July, affecting 15% to 20% of its total workforce, according to Les Echos on Thursday.

All categories of staff should be affected by this plan, the paper says. However, these redundancies should be made on a voluntary basis, with financial incentives thrown in.

Almost half of the job cuts, i.e. between 4,000 and 6,000, would affect ground staff, Les Echos says. The airline expects to lay off between 2,000 and 2,500 cabin crew, air hostesses and stewards and about 400 pilots, it adds.

Its subsidiary Hop should be the most affected by this redundancy plan, with almost 1,000 laid off.
