Nokia: announces '5G' contract with China Unicom
(CercleFinance.com) - Nokia announced on Monday morning that it has been chosen by China Unicom to support the development of its 5G network in China.
"Nokia has been awarded an approximately 10% share of China Unicom's 5G core network. The core network performs a variety of functions, including setting up connections, bandwidth management, scaling and securing the network, and, now with 5G, opening up the network to support new, software-enabled use cases such as network slicing," the Finnish group said.
The terms of the deal were not specified.
In addition, Nokia and Broadcom announce that they will collaborate in the development of semiconductor technologies, including new custom SoCs, which will be integrated into Nokia's "5G Powered by ReefShark" portfolio.
