Nokia: to deploy private LTE network at Canadian mine
(CercleFinance.com) - Finnish telecom gear maker Nokia said that it will install and operate a private wireless network at an underground operating mine in Ontario, Canada.
The LTE/4.9G project will enable secure wireless communications between miners and surface personnel, including push-to-talk and push-to-video services, Nokia said.
The platform will also enable future applications, such as underground asset tracking, autonomous vehicles, and drone surveillance, it added.
Nokia said it has collaborated with innovation centre Norcat and technology consortium CENGN to deploy the network.
