Nokia: chosen to power China Unicom's 5G network
(CercleFinance.com) - China Unicom has chosen Nokia's bandwidth transport link, known as fronthaul, to power its 4G and 5G networks in Beijing, the Finnish telecoms gear maker said on Wednesday.
The optical fronthaul solution will speed deployment of 4G/5G radios and simplify the installation of the network, with a low cost of operation, Nokia said.
The solution—which ensures precise synchronisation between cell sites—will also be key to support the Chinese operator's commitment to deliver 5G in 2019, the company said.
