Nokia: wins network deal in Malaysia
(CercleFinance.com) - Nokia has won a contract to expand the network of Malaysian cell phone company U Mobile, the Finnish telecoms equipment maker said on Thursday.
Under the three-year agreement, Nokia will deploy its so-called single RAN advanced technology to expand the delivery of mobile data services across Malaysia.
The companies also plan to collaborate on a 5G live network trial later this year.
A recent market report predicts that mobile data usage in Malaysia will double by 2022.
Also note that Nokia shareholders yesterday approved all of the board of directors' proposals at the group's AGM, including a dividend payment of 0.05 euro per share from retained earnings.
The board's remaining distribution authorisation is 0.15 euro per share, the group said.
