Nokia: another step toward 5G with Sprint
(CercleFinance.com) - Nokia is working with US mobile carrier Sprint on a 5G New Radio connection over a dual mode-capable Massive MIMO radio that will help deploy mobile 5G in the first half of 2019, the Finnish company said on Tuesday.
The project will enable Sprint to offer both 4G LTE and 5G on the same radio to continue meeting its customers' demand for unlimited data and high-bandwidth applications, such as 4K and 8K video streaming, and applications such as HD virtual reality, Nokia said.
The Massive MIMO technology has been invented by Nokia Bell Labs.
Nokia and Sprint plan to showcase the 5G demonstration at Sprint's booth at Mobile World Congress Americas, which will be held in Los Angeles, from 12 to 14 September.
