Grifols: CE marking for new genotyping test.
(CercleFinance.com) - Grifols has obtained European conformance - CE marking - for a diagnostic test that allows RHD genotyping and improves transfusion medicine practices.
The Spanish group says the test has been designed for use on a platform which enables immunohematologists to build detailed donor databases for patients requiring frequent or multiple transfusions.
Grifols says RHD genotyping can reduce unnecessary administration of Rho(D) immune globulin in pregnant women and decrease unnecessary transfusion of red blood cells.
The ID RHD XT test is manufactured by Progenika, a Grifols unit that develops blood group genotyping assays that offer ease-of-use and rapid results.
