Inditex: separates CEO, chairman roles

(CercleFinance.com) - Spain's Inditex, the owner of global clothing chain Zara, said on Friday that it will separate the roles of chief executive and chairman as part of its strategic digital transformation.

The fashion company plans to appoint Carlos Crespo, currently chief operating officer, as the goup's chief executive officer.

At the annual general meeting to be held in July, the company's shareholders will also be asked to re-elect current chief executive Pablo Isla as executive chairman.

Last year, Pablo Isla announced that all Inditex stores would be fully digital and integrated with the group's online platform by 2020.

An auditor, Crespo joined Inditex in 2001 as the head of accounting policies in the finance department.
