Siemens Gamesa: launches new wind turbine
(CercleFinance.com) - Siemens Gamesa rolled out a new wind turbine on Wednesday, which offers up to 30% more energy production than its predecessor.
The SG 10.0-193 DD offshore wind turbine's 94-metre-long-blades - almost the same length as a football pitch - provide a sweep area of 29,300 m2.
The annual energy production of the turbine is enough to supply about 10,000 European households with electricity, Siemens Gamesa said, meaning that an offshore wind park that has 20 of these turbines would cover the annual electricity consumption of Liverpool for example.
They will start to be made in Cuxhaven, Germany, the company said.
