Bayer: submits heart failure drug for EU approval

(CercleFinance.com) - German pharmaceutical giant Bayer said on Friday that it has submitted its Vericiguat heart failure drug for potential approval by European regulators.

A new drug application has also been submitted to the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare (MHLW) in Japan, the group said.

The submission of both these regulatory applications is based on positive data from a Phase III study recently published in the New England Journal of Medicine, which showed that Vericiguat taken once daily cut the risk of heart failure hospitalisation and cardiovascular death by 10% compared to placebo, Bayer said.

Bayer is jointly developing Vericiguat with Merck.
