Bayer: BASF deal gets conditional EU approval
(CercleFinance.com) - The European Commission gave on Monday its conditional approval for German chemical group BASF to take over certain businesses of rival Bayer.
The EU watchdog said in a statement that the decision is conditional on the divestiture by BASF of overlapping research businesses for the development of non-selective herbicides; and a BASF pipeline seed treatment product named "Trunemco."
The deal between Bayer and BASF follows the Commission's March 2018 decision requiring Bayer to sell some assets as part of its planned acquisition of Monsanto.
