BASF: cooperation deal in battery materials production.
(CercleFinance.com) - BASF and Russia's Norilsk Nickel have entered into exclusive negotiations to cooperate on the supply of raw materials for the production of lithium-ion batteries.
BASF intends to invest up to 400 million euros in a first step to build production plants for cathode materials in Europe.
The German chemicals giant also said today that it plans to build a new world-scale plant to produce ibuprofen, an active pharmaceutical ingredient that is used for treating pain, fever, and inflammation, in Ludwigshafen, Germany.
The new plant is scheduled to be operational in 2021.
