Allianz: rumour of 700 redundancies ahead.
(CercleFinance.com) - The German newspaper Süddeutsche Zeitung has stated that Allianz is planning to make about 700 redundancies in Germany by 2020.
This downsizing would be part of a broader plan to make 1,300 lay-offs, including a number of early retirements.
The paper further reports that these savings mainly result from the impact of digitisation of insurance activities, according to management.
As at 31 December 2016, Allianz had a total workforce of 140,253, including 40,167 in Germany, its 2016 annual report indicates.
