Siemens: contract for high-voltage link in Greece

(CercleFinance.com) - Siemens announced on Thursday that it has won a contract to build a high-voltage direct current (HVDC) link to connect mainland Greece to Crete, the country's largest island.

Under the terms of the contract, won from the public company Ariadne, the consortium led by Siemens Energy will be responsible for supplying a system with a capacity of up to 1,000 megawatts (MW).

The project is expected to be delivered by mid-2023 and is estimated to cost some E370 million, a sum that will be shared between the different members of the consortium.

Siemens also announced on Thursday that it has collaborated with Spanish engineering and renewable energy group Acciona, in a project to improve water treatment at one of the largest desalination plants in the Middle East.
