Siemens: buys workplace app to expand into smart building

(CercleFinance.com) - German industrial conglomerate Siemens has agreed to buy US-based Building Robotics, the creator of the Comfy digital workplace app, to expand its business in smart buildings.

Comfy helps users control their temperature, adjust lighting throughout the day, while finding and booking available rooms and desks, and sharing immediate feedback with workplace teams.

The acquisition marks the industrial giant's latest step to tap into the market of IT networks, IoT systems, on-demand control and smart automation, where it intends to develop significantly in the future.

The cofounders of Building Robotics, Andrew Krioukov and Stephen Dawson-Haggerty, will remain in their current positions.

The deal is expected to be closed in the third quarter of 2018. Its financial terms have not been disclosed yet.
