Daimler: Mercedes car sales drop again in April

(CercleFinance.com) - Daimler's luxury car brand Mercedes-Benz suffered another drop in volumes last month, suggesting that the ongoing global trade war is starting to impact demand for premium cars.

Sales of Mercedes-Benz cars fell 5.5% to 181,936 vehicles in April, as sales in the US dropped 15.7%.

In Europe, sales fell by 4.8% to 71,263 deliveries. Even in Germany, the company's largest and most stable market in Europe, sales fell by over 1%.

Sales in the Asia-Pacific region dropped by 1.4% to 79,125 vehicles, the group added, although demand in China, the region's core market, continued to resist, with sales rising 0.8% to reach a new high of 57,707 units in the past month.

Mercedes-Benz said it has delivered a total of 742,809 cars in the first four months of the year, down 5.6% compared to the same period a year ago.
