RWE: 2019 results exceed expectations

(CercleFinance.com) - RWE has posted higher-than-expected EBITDA, which also beat the consensus, particularly thanks to the sound performance of its trading subsidiary and its gas and LNG businesses.

The German energy group has reported adjusted Ebitda of 2.1 billion euros in 2019, against 1.5 billion euros in 2018, well above the consensus, which was expecting around 1.2 billion euros.

Adjusted annual earnings more than doubled to 1.2 billion euros, from 591 million euros a year earlier, again above the consensus of just over one billion euros.

Based on these strong results, RWE has announced a dividend of 0.80 euro for the past fiscal year, a payout that it has said that it will increase to 0.85 euro per share from 2020.

RWE this morning provided a target range of adjusted EBITDA of 2.7 billion to 3 billion euros for the current year, along with adjusted earnings of 850 million to 1.15 billion euros.
