Merck KGaA: new technological centre in China
(CercleFinance.com) - The German chemical and pharmaceutical group Merck KGaA announced on Friday its intention to build a new technology center dedicated to its advanced electronics in China.
The site, based in Shanghai, which will have a surface area of 3,300 m2, will focus on its semiconductor materials activities, which are currently benefiting from strong growth in the country.
Merck said it is currently supplying over 150 product references to around 100 chip manufacturers in the country.
The new technological centre, which will cost the group 18 million euros, is expected to open in the first half of 2022.
Merck also indicated that it intends to strengthen its optoelectronics capabilities - again in Shanghai - particularly relating to OLED screen technologies.
