Linde: EU suspends Praxair merger review, pending more data
(CercleFinance.com) - EU antitrust regulators have suspended their review into the merger between Germany's Linde and its US-based rival Praxair after the companies failed to provide the requested information.
The European Commission, which opened an in-depth study into the deal on 16 February, said the decision has a retroactive effect as of 24 February.
"Such decisions are not uncommon in complex proceedings of this kind," Linde responded in a statement.
Linde expects that the investigation will resume next week.
Indeed, the group still expects the merger to be completed as planned in the second half of 2018.
