BMW: posts record October sales, volumes up 1.7%

(CercleFinance.com) - BMW increased sales by 1.
7% last month to 204,295 vehicles, representing a new record for a month of October, the German carmaker said on Friday.

Figures were once again lifted by a surge in demand from China, the group's largest market, where sales jumped by 8.8% last month.

"Our model offensive continues to have a positive impact," said Pieter Nota, member of BMW's management board responsible for customers, brands and sales.

He said electrified vehicle sales achieved a "solid increase" of 8.6% in October sales.

BMW brand sales rose 3% to 176,291 vehicles in October, while Mini sales fell by 6.2% to 27,589 cars.

Deliveries year-to-date were up 1.7% year-on-year, the company added, with 2,070,496 BMW, Mini and Rolls-Royce vehicles sold, driven by a 2.3% volume gain at its BMW brand.

The BMW share was up a fraction (+0.1%) in Frankfurt after these figures were published.
