BMW: group sales up 4.4% in August

4% to 181,126 units worldwide in August, powered by demand for its luxury sport-utility vehicles, the Munich-based company said on Monday.
The German premium carmaker said it increased BMW brand auto sales by 4.1%, to 157,889 units, last month.
"Our new X models are proving very popular with our customers," said Pieter Nota, member of BMW's management board.
Nearly every second vehicle sold in August was an "X" - or SUV - model.
The share is currently up 0.6% at 62.7 euros in Frankfurt.
