2% in June, to 33,372 vehicles, as demand for the X5 sports utility vehicle did not totally offset a slump in sales of Mini vehicles and the 3 Series.
Sales of BMW-branded vehicles increased 0.4% in June for a total of 28,962 vehicles. The brand's second biggest seller by volume is now the X5 SUV, with demand up 14.2% to 4,018 cars last month.
Year-to-date, BMW Group sales are down 4.1%, with sales of 171,291 vehicles in the first six months of 2017 compared to 178,580 in the same period in 2016.
In a press release, the German carmaker said the volatility that has characterised much of early 2017 is "likely to continue through the second half of the year".
