Deutsche Bank: Qatar wants at least 5% of capital
(CercleFinance.com) - Qatar would like to acquire at least 5% of Deutsche Bank's share capital says the German newspaper Der Spiegel.
Acquisitions of securities would be made on the market and from the Chinese group HNA. The Qatari royal family already holds slightly over 6% of Deutsche Bank's capital Aurel BGC underlines. The emirate could therefore exceed the 10% threshold of the bank's capital.
The Chinese conglomerate HNA holds just over 6% of the German banking group Aurel BGC says in its daily equity report. In mid-February, it informed US regulators that it has reduced its stake in Deutsche Bank to 6.3%.
However, HNA, which holds stakes in 18 aviation companies and operates 41 hotels, remains one of the German banking giant's largest shareholders, alongside BlackRock (5%) and the US hedge fund Hudson (3.1%).
Remember that HNA's stake in Deutsche Bank is managed by C-Quadrat, a Luxembourg-based asset manager.
