ABB: wins deal for Sinagpore wastewater treatment plant

(CercleFinance.com) - ABB has won an order worth around 30 million dollars from Singapore's national water agency to supply technology for a wastewater treatment plant.

The Swiss engineering group said it will deliver a power monitoring system alongside a building management system for the Tuas Water Reclamation Plant (WRP), which is set to become the world's largest membrane bioreactor.

With a treatment capacity of 800,000m3 per day - the equivalent of over 300 Olympic-size swimming pools - the plant will ensure Singapore's water security through the recycling of used water.

The plant will receive used water flows from the western part of Singapore via two separate deep tunnels and apply membrane bioreactor technology to treat and purify 650,000m3/day of domestic used water, with a further 150,000m3/day of used industrial water, ABB said.

Singapore is considered as one of the world's most water-stressed nations, with no natural water sources.
