ABB: electrical order in US
(CercleFinance.com) - ABB yesterday announced the ordering of gas-insulated systems for four substations from network operator Pepco Holdings, which is intended for the Washington DC metropolitan area, the capital of the United States.
This order is part of the "Capital Grid" project, with the city's population expected to grow from its current level of 680,000 to 900,000 by 2035. It is also a question of replacing ageing equipment, increasing regional power transmission capacity, and making the network more resilient to extreme weather conditions, such as storms.
The Swiss industrial equipment maker did not specify the terms of the contract.
