Bombardier: first delivery of metro trains to Stockholm
(CercleFinance.com) - Bombardier announced on Friday that it has delivered its first next-generation metro trains to the city of Stockholm, with the supply of six trainsets.
The equipment, which is to serve the red line that connects the north-eastern and south-western suburbs to the city centre, includes driverless operation and improved access for passengers with reduced mobility.
The vehicles also comply with the highest environmental standards in terms of energy consumption and choice of materials, all of which are almost entirely recyclable.
The delivery is part of an order placed in 2013 by SL, the Stockholm Public Transport Authority, for 96 "Movia" metro wagons, in a contract that at the time had an estimated value of around 590 million euros.
