Bekaert: fall in 2018 earnings

(CercleFinance.com) - The Belgian industrial group Bekaert has published 2018 EPS of 0.
70 euro, down sharply from 3.26 euros the previous year, with underlying EBIT of 210 million euros, meaning a margin of 4.9%, against 7.3% in 2017.

It posted revenue that is up 5.1% at 4.3 billion euros, with organic growth of 8.9%, resulting from volume growth of 2.2% and the combined effect of the repercussion of increases in the price of wire rod and its price-mix (+6.6%).

The group's board of directors will propose to a gross dividend of 0.70 euro per share. In accordance with its policy, the temporary reduction in the proposed dividend reflects the decline in earnings and the company's high debt.
