Levi Strauss: prices IPO above range

(CercleFinance.com) - US jeans maker Levi Strauss Co.
priced its initial public offering on Thursday above its expected range, at 17 dollars, the company said.

The San Francisco-based company priced about 36.7 million shares, as planned, raising 623 million dollars. The company had expected to sell shares at a price of between 14 dollars and 16 dollars.

The shares are set to begin trading today on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol "LEVI." They are already indicated in a 20 dollar to 21 dollar range, according to market operator NYSE.
