Nike: invests in hands-free footwear start-up

(CercleFinance.com) - Nike has made an investment - for an undisclosed amount - in Handsfree Labs, a Utah-based pioneer in hands-free footwear technology, in the latest example of the sportswear maker's will to strike deals with start-up tech firms.


HandsFree Labs has a portfolio of patented step-in shoe technologies branded as "F.A.S.T." (Foot Activated Shoe Technology).

Beyond the strategic investment in the firm, Nike has also signed an exclusive intellectual property licensing partnership with Handsfree.
