Ford: May sales up 4% in US
(CercleFinance.com) - On Thursday Ford reported a 4% increase in car sales in May in the US, growth that was largely thanks to record deliveries of electric vehicles.
The second-largest US carmaker announced that it sold 161,725 cars last month, up from 155,327 in May 2020.
While SUV sales leapt 48% to 80,134 units, Ford wants to highlight the huge growth of its electric vehicle sales, which have rocketed 184% to total 10,364 units last month, a new record at the group level.
Ten minutes into trading on Wall Street, the Ford stock was up 2.2% while the S&P 500 index was down 1.2%.
