Ford: steps up investments in electrification

(CercleFinance.com) - Today at its "Delivering Ford+" meeting for investors Ford said that it plans to continue and expand its transition to electrification and battery development, investing over 30 billion dollars through to 2025.

It says that nearly 40% of its global vehicle volume will be fully electric by 2030.

Today the carmaker will also detail the priority areas of the "Ford+" plan, a plan dealing with customer relations as well as leadership in electric vehicles and related services.

According to Jim Farley, Ford's CEO, this plan represents the biggest opportunity for growth and value creation since Henry Ford started with the Model T... and we're going to seize this opportunity with both hands, he said.

Finally, Ford also plans to announce the creation of Ford Pro, a global vehicle distribution and service business dedicated to commercial and governmental clients. Ted Cannis has been appointed CEO.

Seems exciting? The share is up almost 2% in pre-market trading on Wednesday.
