Ford: extends halt to production in Europe

(CercleFinance.com) - Ford said on Friday that it was extending the suspension of its European production until at least 4 May.


The US carmaker has suspended production at its main continental European manufacturing sites since 19 March, from its Saarlouis and Cologne plants in Germany, to its Valencia factory in Spain.

For the record, production has also been halted at its Bridgend and Dagenham engine plants in the UK.

Ford said that a restart to production depends heavily on the situation regarding the pandemic in the weeks ahead.

In the meantime, Ford is manufacturing medical equipment, such as facemasks and ventilators, to help medical staff during this critical time.
