USA: weekly drop in jobless claims
(CercleFinance.com) - The Labor Department announced that 233,000 new U.
S. jobless claims were registered for the week ending July 29, down by 17,000 on the previous week.
The four-week moving average - more representative of the underlying trend - came in at 240,750, up by 2,500 on the previous week.
Finally, the number of people receiving regular benefits rose by 6,000 to 1,875,000 during the week of July 22, the most recent period available for this statistic.
