Disney: Guardians of the Galaxy film off to good start

(CercleFinance.com) - The third installment of the Disney-produced "Guardians of the Galaxy" saga topped the box office in the US and Canada this weekend, with a total of $114m in receipts between Friday and Monday, according to Box Office Mojo estimates.


"Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3" was well ahead of Super Mario Bros. The Movie, which took in just $18.6m in three days, but has now earned $518m since its release five weeks ago.

The horror film "Evil Dead Rise" is in third place at the weekend box office with $5.7m in three days, bringing its three-week total to $54m.

According to the IMDb database, the first episode of Guardians of the Galaxy, released in 2014, grossed $773m worldwide and the second, from 2017, grossed $863m.
